So what’s confidential data?
Any data that your company holds about clients, customers or employees is considered confidential. That includes any personal or sensitive information, from personnel records and banking details to medical records and customer contact information.
But confidential data isn’t just paper-based. It can also be stored electronically on CDs, memory sticks and other electronic storage media. All of it needs to be disposed of and destroyed securely... and don’t forget to dispose of uniforms and ID badges securely too.
Protect your data; protect your company Secure document destruction is the best way to protect both you and your customers from identity theft and prevent the loss of secrets to competitors.
The Data Protection Act 1998 requires all companies to dispose of confidential data securely and take “appropriate measures… against accidental loss of… personal data”.
Simply put, you don’t want any information you hold falling into the wrong hands. There have been many reports of misplaced, lost or stolen data, and this highlights how important it is to have a secure system in place to store and dispose of your confidential data securely.
